The Start of Regen AgTek
A group of like-minded professionals formed Regen Agtek Pty Ltd through their affinity for nature, farming, food, and health. We had previously worked on different projects here in Australia and worldwide. We joined forces through our passion for making a positive change in soil health, food production and security, and profitability of farming enterprises while improving the health of our environment, plants, animals, and ourselves!

Shaun O’Brien – CEO - Chief Scientist Director of Research & Development
Shaun, an accomplished research scientist, brings extensive expertise in plant science, biology, plant tissue culture, microbiology, and regenerative agriculture technologies. His dedication to sustainability is evident through the development of innovative testing protocols and verification parameters for global use of regenerative agricultural amendments. Shaun's wealth of experience includes managing tissue culture production facilities and nurseries in Australia and abroad.
He excels in plant nutrition, plant breeding, and crafting micropropagation protocols for even the most challenging plant species.
Dr. Jayeni Hiti Bandaralage – Scientist / Plant Biotechnologist
Dr. Jayeni Hiti Bandaralage is a renowned plant biotechnologist with over 15 years of experience in agricultural innovation. She is the Co-Founder, Director, and Chief Scientist at J&S Plant Biotech Pty Ltd. Dr. Bandaralage’s expertise lies in plant tissue culture, plant breeding protoplast technology, and cryopreservation technologies, with a focus on addressing global agricultural challenges.
As a former research scientist at the University of Queensland for nearly a decade, Dr. Bandaralage led pioneering work that resulted in the world’s first meristem culture-based commercial micropropagation system for avocado in her PhD. She also contributed to develop the first successful cryopreservation technologies for avocado and protoplast regeneration platform for Duboisia. Her contributions have set new standards in plant biotechnology, particularly for high-value crops.
Driven by a vision to support sustainable food systems, Dr. Bandaralage is committed to advancing innovative plant propagation techniques that improve food security, resilience, and agricultural productivity worldwide. Through her leadership at J&S Plant Biotech and STC Link, she collaborates and consult with global partners leading R&D teams to deliver practical solutions for growers and researchers. Her work reflects a strong dedication to bridging science, technology, and sustainability to transform agriculture for future generations.
Ian Smith – Project Manager / Director of Business Operations
With over 40 years of experience, Ian is a versatile expert in agriculture, horticulture, forestry and vegetation management. He excels in large-scale land conversions globally, utilising purpose-built machinery and innovative methodologies.
Ian is a pioneer in vertical farming systems, pushing the boundaries of sustainable agriculture. His diverse skill set extends to working with technologies like converting waste products into renewable diesel.
Henry Zhang – Director Global Procurement and International Business Operations Asia
Henry, an accomplished procurement agent and business development expert, has extensive experience in sourcing equipment, resources, labour and all aspects of building a business. He has developed and managed numerous companies in various countries, world-wide. Henry developed major trade relations with China, sourcing components to develop various industries in south east Queensland. Henry is developing inroads into China, with regenerative inputs and methodolgies, to help with reducing the chemical dependency in growing food, while increasing the nutrient density and health properties of fresh food.
